I am Edie Lou, founder and creative director of Edie Lou Studio (ELS) and the editorial platform PULP. My work is grounded in a conceptual approach to fashion - where garments are not just empty objects of design, but vessels for meaning, narrative, and values. I see fashion as a cultural language - one that can challenge systems, express identity, and build dialogue across disciplines.

My academic background includes a a BA degree in Educational Science and Social Psychology at the University of Hagen, and a MA in Contemporary Fashion Design from IFA Paris and Instituto Lorenzo de’ Medici in Florence, complemented by formal training in Fashion Assistant at STF Zürich and Fashion Design and Production in Sacramento, California. This combination of education, psychology, design theory, and hands-on technical development allows me to move fluidly between concept and execution.
Alongside my design practice, I studied photography at the Art School in Wiesbaden, Germany and continue to practise photography as part of my work, with exhibitions in Zurich, Switzerland, San Fransisco, and Davis, California USA.
I come from a family deeply rooted in education and the arts. My mother’s strength, excellent sense of taste, and independence shaped how I understand quality, aesthetic, and responsibility - a role model whose influence continues to guide me. My father’s influence, as a writer and multidisciplinary artist, rooted in pop-art traditions and a free-spirited, countercultural outlook shaped my enduring commitment to high-contrast black, white visual language, and independent actions. My grandmother, a strong feminist thinker and educator devoted to philosophy and culture, still shapes my understanding of agency and possibility. Her approach was simple and uncompromising: just do it. She believed that limitations are not defined by age, circumstance, or expectation, but are often imposed by ourselves - a conviction that continues to guide my work and decisions. Together, these influences inform how I think, create, and work. My creative practice and professional ethos, forming a combination I value deeply and remain genuinely grateful for.
This background forms the foundation from which Edie Lou Studio and its editorial platform, PULP, developed. With ELS, I focus on season-less collections, sustainable material sourcing, and a distinct visual language defined by contrast, precision, and emotional resonance. Through PULP, I extended this philosophy beyond the garment - creating space for reflection, conversation, research and accessible education around ethics, culture, and the future of fashion.
